During the traditional touristic season, from spring to autumn, Paks is a real festival town. A typical summer event: Gastroblues Festival in Paks, Harvest Festival in Paks and Dunakömlőd, Sillerwine Festival in Old town.

The colourful and friendly town, Paks is characterised by pleasant restaurants and fast food eateries. You can choose to have a Hungarian vegetable stew ('főzelék') or go to a pizzeria.

The tourists and visitors of the region are advised to visit the cultural treasures of Paks. They can see the ancient monuments of the historical and cultural heritage of the two-thousand-year-old past and also the rich folk art – and handcrafts collections. The museum, the picture gallery, the garden of Roman ruins and the churches of the town represent a specific segment of Hungarian culture exploring of which can offer a peculiar and unique experience for all generations.

The passion of hunting has been connected to the everyday life of man for ages, but as the times passed, instead of getting food, the entertainment and sports became the most important aim in this field. Perhaps, the words of the well-known hunter and Africa-researcher, Zsigmond Széchenyi can express the gist of this activity giving a special experience: ”Hunting is chasing game and forest murmurs, but more forest murmurs. Nature lovers’ being immersed in nature itself.”

Wine-producing in Paks dates back long and boasts some famous products like ’siller’ wine. When in our town you should walk to the row of wine-cellars in Sárgödör Square and do not miss to taste this peculiar kind of wine. The ’siller’ is a light, fresh fruit-flavoured wine but has a more full-bodied and spiced aroma than the rosé wines. While tasting wines you should have time to get to know the other unique gastronomic adventure of our town, the famous fish soup of Paks. A bowl of real fish soup of Paks, a piece of breaded carp with white wine and a glass of genuine red wine of Paks can make even the most monotonous day a holiday. Especially, if you have this in Sárgödör Square with unique atmosphere.

 

 

 

 

 

The Danube is the most international river in the world; it crosses 10 countries, its drainage area touches seven more countries. Nevertheless, it is impossible to express with only data what this wonderful river really means to us.

 

In Hungary keeping and breeding of horses, horse-riding and the various equestrian sports have great traditions. Nowadays, in Hungary, the areas where you can pursue riding in free natural circumstances are getting less and less, that is why the lovers of this peculiar pastime activity are pleased with the fact that they are offered numerous possibilities for cross-country riding in Paks and its region.

The sport life of Paks is also significant; its name is mentioned in the leading group of numerous kinds of sport like judo, canoeing, basketball, chess and football. It has well-known and famous sportspeople and teams such as Antal Kovács Olympic champion judoist, Ákos Braun Europe- and world champion judoist, György Kozmann canoeist, the Atomerőmű SE men’s basketball team and the National First League football team of Paks.
