Wine, pálinka and gastronomy
Wine-producing in Paks dates back long and boasts some famous products like ’siller’ wine. When in our town you should walk to the row of wine-cellars in Sárgödör Square and do not miss to taste this peculiar kind of wine. The ’siller’ is a light, fresh fruit-flavoured wine but has a more full-bodied and spiced aroma than the rosé wines. While tasting wines you should have time to get to know the other unique gastronomic adventure of our town, the famous fish soup of Paks. A bowl of real fish soup of Paks, a piece of breaded carp with white wine and a glass of genuine red wine of Paks can make even the most monotonous day a holiday. Especially, if you have this in Sárgödör Square with unique atmosphere.
Wine-cellars
The wine-growers of Paks hollowed their cellars into the loess perfectly suitable for storing wine and built press-houses around them. The ground dug out of the cellars was utilized, the walls of houses and press-houses or adobes were made of it. The Sárgödör Square which was named after this welcomes its visitors.
